Paul Kenyon: Greene, Dufault, Clarey are back in win column

Julie Greene, Karen Dufault and Carol Clarey, all regular contenders in women's golf competition, have won again.

Greene captured her seventh R.I. Women's Golf Association Senior Championship when she fired an 80 at Warwick yesterday.

Nancy Chaffee had an 84 to win the 55-62 age bracket. Marie Travers took low net in that bracket with a 75. In the 63-70 division, Nancy O'Neill of Wanumetonomy took low gross with a 90, and Joanne Corbett of Quidnessett won low net with a 77. Margie Santamaria of Alpine won the 70-and-over division with a 101, and Martha Quinn of Warwick took low net with an 80.

In Ocean State Women's play, Dufault and Clarey combined for an 81 to win the State Round Robin at New England CC. They edged Nancy Diemoz and Cissy Grady by one. MaryJo Buckley and Donna DeBlasio won low net with a 69, one better than the team of Linda Albamonti and Sue Falcone.

In the "A" Division, Nikki Hartshorn and Terry Leal won with an 89, two better than Mary Ann McLaughlin and Anne Drescher. Maureen Dion and Ann Lizak combined for a 68 to take low net. Mel Palumbo and Janet Keene were next, at 70.
