CHAIRPERSONS’ REPORTS:
Tournament
Chairperson: Reports were submitted detailing
recent tournaments – Potomomut Golf Club on June 1st, North
Kingstown Golf Course on June 8th and Richmond Country Club on June
15th.
At Potomomut Golf Club,
it was reported that a player had teed off from the wrong hole. After review, it was found that the score
taken for that particular hole was from the other team player; therefore, no
rule was broken. A letter was sent
stating no rule had been broken.
At the RI Women’s State
Four-Ball played at North Kingstown Golf Course, the weather was cold and
wet. On the second day, play had to be
suspended for approximately one hour due to heavy rain and thunder storms.
At both North Kingstown
Golf Course and Richmond Country Club, there were rules questions which were
addressed.
Handicap
Chairperson: Scores were checked in the GHIN
system for both Quidnessett Country Club and Valley Country Club. Approximately 26 players had not posted their
scores. The Handicap Chair sent an email
to these members. To date, one player
still had not posted her score and this member will be reduced in the next
tournament she plays.
As was decided at the
last Board meeting, the Handicap Chair will continue to post all scores into
the GHIN system for the remaining of the season.
There was a discussion
on cutting and moving players to another division due to exceptional tournament
play. Two players are being cut until
the GHIN system updates to the correct index.
Website
Chairperson: All is running smoothly. There has been positive feedback regarding
members liking the divisions listed with the pairings and also that the current
tournament is listed on top of the schedule.

OLD
BUSINESS: The Board is reviewing the
drafted By-Laws and will send any questions or comments to the By-Laws
Chairperson.
There
have been no complaints or any problems regarding the Handicap Chairperson
posting all scores into the GHIN system for the remaining season.
NEW BUSINESS: Due
to the low number of entrants in the “Tournament of Champions” this event has
been postponed until 2010. Lincoln
Country Club and all applicants were notified.
Green Valley Country Club was approached to hold this tournament next
year. We are waiting to hear back from
them.
Regarding
refunds/credits: one player asked to be
cancelled from a tournament the day before the close of that tournament which
meets the cancellation requirement as indicated in the OSWGA Handbook. Another member said they could not play in a
tournament due to an injury and asked if their money could be used for a later
tournament. The OSWGA Handbook
specifically states no refunds or credits.
The President will inform the member.
It
was discussed that the Scholarship Chairperson mail OSWGA Applications to all
school Guidance Counselors around the state.
The
Tournament Director has been having problems with her computer. It keeps freezing and stress tests are now
being done. This computer is about five
years old and, depending on the cost for it to be fixed, the Board agreed that
she should get a new computer if necessary.
The use of
Electronic Measuring Devices being added to additional tournaments this year
was discussed. To be consistent and fair
to everyone, it was decided to leave the courses they are now allowed at. Next year the policy could be changed
allowing EMDs at more tournaments.
ADJOURNMENT: The
meeting adjourned at
