TREASURER’S
REPORT: Monthly financial summaries for
March 1 through March 31st and April 1 through April 30th,
along with year-to-date figures, were distributed and reviewed. Because this meeting is being held on the
last day of the month, the Treasurer will need to run the final summary for the
month after today.
A motion was made and unanimously carried.

CHAIRPERSONS’ REPORTS:
Tournament
Chairperson: Reports were submitted detailing
recent tournaments – Pawtucket Country Club on April 6th, Rhode
Island Country Club on
April
13th, Kirkbrae Country Club on April 20th
and
At Pawtucket Country
Club, one team withdrew and one team was disqualified for playing a scramble
rather than best ball which was the format of the tournament.
An error was made in
scoring for the Championship Division but was found right away and the correct
winners were mailed their certificate.
At Kirkbrae
Country Club, there was one late addition to the tournament and two very late
replacements.
All
other events ran smoothly.
The Tournament Chair
also reported on the 3rd Annual Skills Challenge held at Green
Valley Country Club on
Handicap
Chairperson: It was reported that GHIN numbers
are good for one year. In order to
acquire a USGA GHIN handicap index, a fee must be paid at a club of
choice. To keep a handicap index
up-to-date, membership dues need to be paid along with the GHIN fee. Handicap indexes are mandatory or players
will play at scratch. All scores should
be posted to keep an index current.
Eleven (11) OSWGA
members do not have updated GHIN numbers and they will be advised by
letter.
Rules
Chairperson: The Rules Chairperson has
put a Committee in place which has been approved by the Board.
Website Chairperson: A
change has been made by putting the winners' pictures of each tournament on the
results page and they will remain there throughout the year. Also, completed tournaments have been moved to
the bottom of the schedule page. This
will result in current tournaments always being at the top of the page and
making it easier for members to find tee time/hole assignment, etc.
It was
discussed if divisions could be added to the schedule information. Although it results in additional work, the
Board is looking to see if this can be done.
The website
has been running smoothly and members are saying it is user-friendly. We are still looking for someone to help with
major problems, if needed.
Appeals: An
Appeals Committee has been put in place which has been approved by the Board.
By-Laws: The
By-Laws Chairperson submitted a draft copy of recommended changes to the
current By-Laws. They were reviewed in
detail with discussion as to why certain changes were made. The Board will review, make their changes and
resubmit their proposal to the By-Laws Chairperson. The final version should be completed by the
November Annual Meeting.
A motion was made and unanimously carried.
VOTED: to approve all Chairperson reports
Statistician: Nothing to

Scholarship: Nothing to report.
Publicity: Nothing to

Nominating: Nothing

TOURNAMENT
DIRECTOR’S
REPORT: The Tournament Director’s Report was
submitted detailing recent tournaments – Pawtucket Country Club on April 6th,
Rather
than turn someone away, a twosome was allowed to play alone at Pawtucket Country
Club.
For
the OSWGA Shamble held at Fall River Country Club, the team handicap could not
be less than 25. One team was below that and the mistake was not caught
beforehand. This team won a prize. The
Board is discussing on how to handle and will refer the problem to the Rules
Committee.
This year, the cost of
food and carts are up and, when running a tournament, sometimes there are
unforeseen charges such as tax on carts, service charge, etc. For the most part, we can determine
beforehand what the profit amount will be.
Application fees will remain as is.
The RI Women’s State
Four-Ball is to be held at North Kingstown Golf Course June 8 through June 10th. They are putting in a new irrigation system
which was to be completed by June 1.
However, the work has been delayed and won’t be completed by the date of
the tournament. It was decided to go
ahead as scheduled as it will be a fair playing field for everyone.
Last
minute replacements at tournaments was discussed. It was determined that wording addressing
this situation in the OSWGA Handbook needs to be reviewed.
A motion was made
and unanimously carried.
VOTED: to approve the Tournament Director’s report
